I am a strong believer in date nights, its so important to make time for each other and connect with each other. With work, kids, school, just life in general it can become hard to plan a date night. There are always a million reason why not, that’s why my husband and I do date nights at home.
It can be easy to get stuck in a rut of dinner and movies as your go to date night and while there is nothing wrong with that once in a while, its fun to come up with new ideas for date night.
These ideas I’m sharing with you today are our favourite at home date nights.
1)Pick a food and base your whole meal around that food from appetizer to dessert. This allows you to get creative and try things you maybe wouldn’t other wise.
2)Spend some time writing 10 of your favourite memories of each other or as a couple. This is one of my favourites, we get to reminisce and have a good laugh too!
3)Try a new activity that neither of you have done before, for example yoga, it will give you a chance to create a new memory and who knows you might even find a new hobby.
4)Have a theme night, for example Mexican (our favourite food) and base the whole evening around that theme.
5)Have a picnic in your back yard, lay out a blanket and watch the stars with a good glass of wine, I love doing this one in the summer, although our picnic usually gets crashed by our dogs, haha they end of snuggling up with us.
6)Pick a hobby of yours or his and have the other try it, it’s a great way to bond and get a glimpse at why the other likes it.
7)Feed each other food blind folded and have the other guess what it is, you could be really mean and get things you know the other will hate, but since it is date night you should probably stick with things that won’t get you sent to the couch.
8)Have a bubble bath and give each other massages. Enough said!
9)Have a food tasting, pick 5 snack or finger foods each and feed each other.
Most importantly with date nights is too talk! We can get so caught up in technology these days that conversation is a lost art.
A good idea is to put your phones on airplane mode and only bring them out to take pictures of your date night! I hope you found a new idea or two to try out.
What’s your favourite at home date night? I’d love to hear it, I’m always looking for new ones.
