When the holiday season comes and if you’re like me you like to freshen up your home, not only for your family and friends you will be hosting but for yourself as well. It starts to feel a little blah around this time for me, I don’t know why it is, probably too much Pinterest! But with it being such a busy time of year for so many you probably feel like you have no time to start any home projects, right?! Well you don’t have to, today I am sharing some simple ideas on how to freshen up your home, best of all they are budget friendly!
Paint your front door. Choose a bold colour like a pumpkin orange or a beautiful deep plum. It’s an easy way to freshen up your exterior.
Lamps. Change out your lamp shades, its the perfect way to add a pop of colour to any room!
Bookcases. Add a bold wall paper to the backing of a bookcase. It adds a subtle pop of pattern without a big commitment.
Accessories. Adding or switching up accessories can make a big difference. Turn an old mirror into a tray, just add felt to the back and you have yourself a beautiful mirror tray where you can display a candle, table books, just about anything you’d like.
Mirrors. Mirrors have the power to make a room feel larger and add more light.
Pillows. Switch out your throw pillows. If you love pillows like I do but don’t or can’t dedicate a whole closet to them, haha, buy pillow covers instead and just change those out.
Kitchen hardware. Changing the hardware on your cabinets gives your kitchen an instant facelift, and its super easy to do!
Picture frames. Give your existing picture frames a new coat of paint makes a huge difference. They will look brand new!
Furniture. Simply rearrange your furniture. I do this every time I feel my home needs a little freshening up. Its so simple and won’t cost you a dime!
Reuse. Shop your home, take a look around and see if you can repurpose things you already own. Or move your accessories into different rooms or places in your home.
Declutter. Donate things you don’t use or haven’t worn in 6 months. Kids clothes, shoes, board games, small kitchen appliances. Things add up throughout the year around the house and you don’t even notice how much “stuff” you have. A decluttered home will instantly feel refreshed and will motivate you to keep going with other projects around the house.
You can use these ideas anytime you feel you need a mini makeover in your home. I hope you found some helpful tips to make your home sparkle this holiday season!
